Commissions
Commissioning a painting is an opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind work of art created especially for you. To help guide the process, please consider the overall look, subject matter, mood, colors, and setting you have in mind. Reference photos are especially helpful. If you would like a recommendation based on the space where the artwork will be displayed, I’m happy to collaborate with you to develop a concept. All ideas, suggestions, and inspiration are welcome.
MATERIALS
All commissioned paintings are created using professional-grade paints, mediums, and varnishes on 100% cotton canvas. These materials ensure that your commissioned piece will be of archival quality and will last for many years. If you prefer a different surface material other than canvas, such as paper or wood panel, I am open to discussing those options.
COMPLETION TIMEFRAME
Original artwork takes time to create, and completion times vary based on the size, detail, and complexity of the piece. Small to medium paintings with simpler details are typically completed within two weeks, while larger, more detailed works may take longer.
If you need your commission completed by a specific date, please let me know at the start of the project. All reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate your request.
COMMISSION PROCESS
After your commission request is confirmed, I will send a preliminary composition for your review to ensure we’re on the same page before proceeding. This may be in the form of a hand-drawn sketch, a digital mockup, or a combination of both. Throughout the process, I will provide progress updates and photos of the artwork as it develops. At these checkpoints, you'll have the opportunity to share feedback and request adjustments. The commission price includes up to two minor revisions to the painting. Please see pricing information below for more details.
PRICING
Because every commission is unique, pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis. Most small to medium-sized paintings are priced at $2.00 per square inch. Commissions that require greater complexity, specialized techniques, or additional materials are priced at $3.00 per square inch.
Rate ($) × Square Inches (in²) = Commission Price
The commission price includes up to two minor revisions at no additional cost. Additional revisions are charged at 20% of the commission price, per revision. Framing, assembly, shipping, and insurance, if applicable, will be added separately. A down payment of 50% of the commission price is required before work begins and the remaining balance is due upon completion of the commission.
The two examples below are based on a 16" × 20" canvas and are meant to give you a general idea of pricing. Actual costs may vary, and these examples should not be considered official estimates.
